Per Mission Statement (as adopted by General Body on 3-19-05), WAPI is an organization that is driven by the consensus of its members that has the following mission: To provide an umbrella organization to bring together American Physicians, Dentists and Allied Healthcare Professionals of Indian Origin, defining Indian in the broad sense of Indian Ancestry; to provide a conduit to strive to be an exemplary strong ethnic group of professionals with a mission to serve the community by their expertise, cultural heritage and charitable work; to provide high educational and social services to its members. We envision this to be a collegial organization with actively participating members, who believe in its mission and are willing to further its cause. |
| Q : | Who are WAPI physicians? |
| A : | Any physician, dentist or a healthcare provider of Indian heritage residing in the state of Washington is eligible for WAPI membership. So WAPI physician is a term we frequently use for all eligible members. |
| Q : | Is WAPI a tax exempt orgainization? |

Yes, WAPI is classified as a public charity organization under 509 (a) (2), and is exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the code. |
| Q : | Do I qualify to become a member? |
| A : | Yes, if you are a physician or allied health professional with Indian heritage. Membership is contingent upon WAPI’s governing body’s acceptance of the membership application. The endorsement, deposit or negotiation of an applicant’s check does not constitute admission in to or acceptance of membership by the WAPI. Checks received will routinely be negotiated and deposited. However if your application is not approved for membership by gov body, you will receive a refund from WAPI for the amount submitted. The review will occur at WAPI’s gov body meeting that follows receipt of your application.

You may fill out online application or download a form from this website. Then print it for your records and pay applicable dues online or mail in your check to WAPI at 2637 SW 172nd street, seattle, WA 98166.

WAPI will appreciate very much for referring a colleague, new comer or a friend to WAPI. Your support thru referrals will strengthen our organization for years to come. Please email to admin@wapiusa.org or click on refer a member under Members and provide information as much as you feel comfortable. WAPI will add this information in its database to provide ongoing news about WAPI events etc to all colleagues and friends in its database |
| Q : | Can non-member attend any WAPI event? |
| A : | Yes, all WAPI events are open to all WAPI physicians regardless of their membership status. But current members will enjoy a discounted rate for event admissions. Our annual CME conference (Category 1 CME / 7.0 credits hours) will be free for members.

| Q : | How could I volunteer for WAPI? |

WAPI is an organization driven by volunteers, and so you are most welcome to join the team of volunteers. As a volunteer, you can consider to serve on various governing body committees, help WAPI recruit more members, refer new physicians, help in community health education, do reminder calls and encourage wapi physicians to attend various events. Please contact President@wapiusa.org or any current executive body member for further details. |

| A : | Yes, that is understood as we all have quite busy professional and personal life. But you may find one or more ways of supporting this organization by: - By becoming a member. - Attending all important events and meetings. - Sharing with us your skills and experience in taking the WAPI to a higher level. - Volunteering to serve on one of the many WAPI committees. - Renewing or upgrading your membership dues if you are already a member. - Encouraging others to join WAPI
